Natural Salt Substitutes Another Healthier Way To Taste Salty

Salt and sugar are important ingredients that add flavor to food and drinks. Adding salt or sugar will create delicious-tasting foods and drinks to enjoy. Even so, we must pay attention to healthy intake by limiting the use of salt and sugar. You can also choose natural salt substitutes to prepare a healthy meal for your day.

Natural Salt Substitutes

If you think all salt is the same, that is a mistake. Not all salts are the same, there are several things that make salt different, such as the content and how it is formed. There are several types of salt that you can use in food, and there are also several substitutes for natural salt.

Here are some natural salt substitutes that you can try at home.

1. Onions and garlic

Raw or cooked, these two can complement almost any savory dish. The umami flavor of onions works well in vegetarian and vegan dishes too. Experiment with removing butter and using only sesame, avocado, olive, and grapeseed oil for cooking.

2. Herbs and spices

Some spices are also known to create a naturally salty taste. Make sure you always have some spices in your kitchen such as basil, chives, rosemary, thyme.

3. Lemon juice

Not only can it be used as an ingredient in salads for dieters. It turns out that you can use lemon water to add a salty and sour taste instead of salt. Often when a dish feels flat, it needs a little sourness – not salt. You can try it by adding lemon juice to salads, steamed or stir-fried vegetables, grilled fish or chicken, sauces, and soups.

4. Citrus

Including lemons, limes, oranges, grapefruit. Oranges are the perfect flavor complement especially for seafood and orange peels are also great for you to add to baked goods.

5. Sea Salt

Sea salt is made by evaporating seawater. In sea salt contains a lot of sodium chloride (naturally) but contains few minerals. Usually sea salt contains the minerals potassium, iron and zinc.

The use of sea salt is perfect for those of you who want to start a healthy diet. You will still be able to taste the appropriate salty in your diet healthier.

Those are some natural salt substitutes that you can try and can inspire you to make healthier meals and start cooking with more flavor.
